Customkit Buildings have a range of quality wooden lifestyle barns with accommodation plans designed to suit a wide variety of requirements — budget, space, location, size, or usage considerations. Our plans look great on the farm, in holiday situations or on lifestyle blocks. Customkit will work with you to design a building to get exactly what you want. You can customise any of our plans with minimal cost. Barns with accommodation or Life Style Barns, Housebarns and Barnhouses are well suited as a temporary short term dwelling solution or equally for those that want a building to live in long term. There is a trend now for people looking for places where they can live, but where they can also store their 'toys' - be they boats, caravans, motorhomes, cars and car collections, horse trucks/floats, farm vehicles and the like. Over recent years there has been a considerable tightening of the building regulations and compliance standards making it much less acceptable to construct a barn and then set about changing it and upgrading it to a habitable building at a later date. In contrast to other materials and building suppliers, a Customkit solution allows you to legally build a building which is specific in use yet complies with the building regulations for both the residential area as well as the barn/ancillary area. Our standard range of plans have been designed for people requiring a larger amount of barn/utility area with a smaller habitable area but if one of our existing plans doesn’t suit, our design team can work with you to develop a plan to suit your individual requirements if you prefer. Customkit’s buildings are very adaptable using a modular system. They are constructed using a clear span, timber portal with timber framed infill panels. We use conventional precut and nailed frames around the timber portal system or alternatively conventional rafter and truss roof framing, again using predominantly plywood board and batten cladding. Customkit use only the best available products and all materials used are manufactured and supplied by New Zealand companies and are specially designed to complement the New Zealand landscape. We offer a range of building options from shell only kitset supply right through to a total build option using a “Customkit Network Builder”. |
