Waiheke Holiday Home - a beautiful example of how our LVL Portals can be used to create an
architecturally designed building with an Open Spacious Feel
Customkit can work with you to create a stunning, high quality wooden solution for your client whether it a barn, barn with accommodation or garage, shed to complement an existing dwelling or a HouseBarn, Home or Cottage.
If you are designing large spans for big open spaces LVL Portals are an architecturally and naturally, renewable, sustainable and carbon neutral building material that is becoming increasingly popular as architects and designers discover the many advantages of building with Wood. LVL is often used to complement the use of sawn timber in domestic construction.
We are seeing an increasing demand for alternate materials and methodology in today's world of commercial construction. Where traditionally concrete and steel have dominated the commercial sector wood is being heralded as a genuine option.
With large-scale projects nationwide and throughout the Pacific Rim, we offer you a complete solution from design, fabrication and supply to price and supply only.
Ecospan Buildings is the commercial arm of Customkit fulfilling the increasing demand for wood, which offers an excellent alternative to concrete and steel.
Ecospan's expertise lies in the design, fabrication and manufacture of large span LVL timber portal and beam systems of up to 30m or more to accommodate the New Zealand and export markets as well as the manufacture of specialist box beam and other beam componentry. LVL is suited to structural applications such as beams, rafter and columns in a wide range of buildings including houses, commercial, industrial and rural structures.

On a ridge with beautiful views over Lake Karapiro and the Maungatautari Ecological Island, a new farmhouse and shed with a combined area of more than 860 square metres is being constructed using CHH Futurebuild laminated veneer lumber (LVL). The house has LVL rafters and mid-floor, and the shed uses LVL uprights and beams in a portal construction system fabricated by Ecospan.
"The client chose LVL because he wanted the look of timberwork inside the shed,"
says Tim Goodson of Cambridge Homes.
"It's quite a quick way of building, and you get a nice, attractive building out of it. The shed is not a cold steel place, it feels warm."
