Carolyn and Rick Thompson are building a substantial Huka Lodge inspired country home in the Wairarapa and chose Customkit as their building partner.
The 381sqm home has a centralised open plan living area or grand hall with portals, high cathedral ceilings and feature wooden beams. The ‘living’ area includes a large ‘entertainers dream’ kitchen, and also comes complete with a spacious scullery. The substantial dining and living spaces allow for entertaining larger numbers. Attic stairs in the mudroom ceiling creates an additional mezzanine storage area.
The ’20 metre entry pavilion’ which links the various wings of the house is a real feature with its polished concrete floors and skillion lounge and groove style ceilings and provides an extensive blank canvas for an art collection.
The master bedroom wing encompasses a large bedroom, ensuite and study and is connected to the grand hall via the expansive entry pavilion.
Another wing has been designed for guests/family with three double bedrooms and an internally accessed garage for all weather protection.
