Having decided to build a new house, Customkit Buildings was one of the websites I looked into, the choice was easy, the Glasgow Lodge. It's huge, lots of space. The team at customkit were fantastic to work with; nothing was a problem, from that first email contact, to the phone calls, to the tweaking of plans, through to the end product, they were awesome! My barn house is in Taranaki so all communication was by phone or email, any question or query I had was always answered promptly. Throughout the whole building process I was thoroughly confident in the friendly and professional attitude of the Customkit team. The structure of the barn house is awesome; I love all the sloped ceilings, the high roof stud in the living area, which is complimented by the stained glass window. The walls are varnished plywood and the concrete floor in the living area has been ground and polished which just adds to the whole effect. The house is absolutely awesome to live in. It's warm in winter, cool in summer and so spacious. I love it! For me it's a dream come true... Thank you everyone at Customkit.

Builder is still caught up on another job, so Stuart and brothers decided they would make a start!! And they're going great guns. They have all the Portals up and are just working thru framing the walls up at nights, so hoping to get Council in for Pre-lining inspection on Monday. It really looks a million bucks. Have taken a few photos, although they're not the tidiest builders you've ever seen, but will definitely pick out a few and send up. The overall experience and end result is fantastic. The initial meeting at the Customkit office to discuss design and options was essential and conducted in a very helpful, knowledgable and casual way - nothing was too much trouble.

It was from the "Yellow Pages" that our first phone call was made. You promptly replied by sending your information pack then followed a few days later by a phone call. Several of the others we contacted didn't even send their promised information packs. Our barn project is nearing completion, and I'm happy to say it has exceeded our expectations.
We particularly like the three metre stud, giving us 2.5 metre high door openings, and feel the 35 degree pitch roofline compliments the look of the higher than normal walls. The clean lines of interior portal construction eliminate unsightly cob web-gathering trusses and will allow for later construction of a mezzanine for storage. We love the look of the eyebrow above the ranchslider, which we understand was the first Customkit has constructed on an end wall.
The ply and batten exterior is just the look we wanted, and we are delighted with the 65mm battens supplied. They look so much better than the 40mm battens used on our last beach property. We have chosen Cabots Weathered Cedar oil based stain, and feel the soft grey tones really suit the look of the barn.
We have had many positive comments from passers by as to how good our barn looks, and would happily recommend Customkit to others.

In November 2004 we built a Customkit Barn on our 10 acre property in Matakohe, Northland. We chose Customkit Buildings for their strong, wooden buildings after investigating many other options. The pricing was good as well. Both Debbie and I found the service excellent. From the initial consultation stage right through to the building stage we have been well informed. The barn was easy to build and we are extremely happy with the outcome, such to the extent we have again chosen Customkit Buildings, this time for our house.
